Back 2 Basics
The 2020 rules are available on the Autospeed website.
Drivers are advised that there are now just two meetings left at which the Ford Focus will be permitted in Back 2 Basics – 15 March at Smeatharpe and 12 April at St Day. After these two meetings, the Ford Focus will no longer be permitted.
The cooling system of the car must be flushed through to remove anti-freeze. If Back 2 Basics races continue to adversely affect the track surface with spilt anti-freeze, Back 2 Basics fixtures will be cut.
All Back 2 Basics fixtures are for “Unders” – that is under 1800cc, unless otherwise noted.
(Rookie) Bangers
The 2020 rules are available on the Autospeed website.
Drivers are encouraged to review the information regarding door plates.
The Bangers Team Championship on Saturday 9 May at Smeatharpe will be limited to 12 teams. Entries are to be made via DigiTickets.
2 Litre National Bangers
The format for meetings which are listed as 2 Litre National Bangers will follow that which was so successfully deployed at the Winter Open Championship in January.

There is a further bonus to the Spring Classic fixture at Smeatharpe on Saturday 28 March and the Summer Classic fixture at St Day on Sunday 5 July. The winner of the Final for 2 Litre National Bangers at each of these two meetings will earn a Wild Card entry into the PRI World Championship at Mendips Raceway on Sunday 20 September.
Other Info
This year’s Mike May Memorial fixture at St Day on Easter Sunday 12 April, will feature unlimited cc National Bangers running to Old Skool rules all day. There will be two heats and a final. The winner of the final will receive a Wild Card entry into the Championship of the World at Smeatharpe on Saturday 6 June.
On Sunday 26 July at Smeatharpe, Teamarama will return. This will be the first Teamarama event since 2012. There will be four drivers to each team. Heats 1 and 2 will be to Old Skool rules. Heats 3 and 4 will be to National Banger rules. Providing there is sufficient interest, there will be a DD to end the meeting.
At the request of several drivers, there will be two 1600cc National Banger fixtures – on Sunday 13 September at St Day and then the following Saturday 19 September at Smeatharpe. At St Day, the racing will be exclusively Old Skool. The following week, the meeting will begin with Old Skool races, and conclude as National Bangers. This will give drivers the chance to make the most out of a car with racing one week and then racing and wrecking the following week.
