Regrettably, Banger drivers 323 Barry Phillips and 696 Ashley Rawlings were taken to hospital on Easter Sunday 9 April, after separate crashes at St Day.
323 Barry Phillips
Barry had the misfortune of a stuck throttle and crashed heavily into the turn one fence. having been checked over in hospital he was released later that night, but returned the following day for further examination. He has a back injury that will sideline him for the next month or so. Barry contacted Autospeed to pay tribute to the care taken by officials and the medical team at St Day.
696 Ashley Rawlings
Ash was spun across oncoming traffic, and was inadverently hit in the driver's door. He needed to be extricated from his car, and that resulted in the abandonment of the last race of the meeting. Ash was later released from hospital, and incredibly his injuries were no worse than a badly sprained ankle and heavy bruising. Ash was also at pains to absolve all other drivers of any wrong doing, and he requested his special thanks be extended to race officials and the medical team who assisted him.
