On This Day - 29th June

On this day in 1966, Stock Car racing was introduced to The Racecourse, Newton Abbot.  The opening meeting featured BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, and the first ever final winner at the circuit was 177 Terry ‘Chick’ Henson, who is pictured here in a timely period shot from that era, with the car that he would have raced to success at that Newton Abbot fixture (photo courtesy of T. Henson).
