On This Day - 25th May

On this day in 1997, the English Championship for Ministox was contested at Smeatharpe.  From a field of talented youngsters, 349 Michael Allard swept to victory in his Riley Elf.  Michael duly went on to race National Bangers, and is a current day star in the Saloon Stock Cars, where he continued his rivalry with 6 Simon Welton, who had finished as runner-up in that same English Championship for the junior class.
