On This Day - 20th July

On this day in 2008, the Hot Rods were making a one-off appearance at Smeatharpe, which has not been repeated since.  Disappointingly, just eight drivers appeared.  There were wins for 742 Graham Luscombe and 758 Derek Palmer in the heats, before the Westcountry Open final was led off by 34 Glenn Sanders.  Early on, a spin for 718 Colin White saw him fall a long way back, but his charge up the order was a feature of the race, as he eventually reeled in Graham, who held his inside line for the closing laps to just finish ahead of Colin in a very close finish.
