National Bangers Rules Clarification

Amended rules for 2014 for National Bangers.  These amendments take immediate effect.

Tyres

Following the change to the tyre rule for National Bangers implemented in 2014, we have had many drivers request that the rules are looked at again.  After consultation, the ORCi has agreed to increase the maximum tyre size in the lower and middle range National Bangers to 205 (remains at 235 in Unlimited National Bangers), and the minimum profile tyre to 50 in all forms of National Bangers, both being for a trial period of 6 months.  Otherwise the rules remain the same as drafted.  Drivers are encouraged to provide feedback to their promoter as to where we should be going with this rule after the 6 month trial period, and promoters will monitor tyre usage during this period also.

Toyota Previa

Following concerns over the use of Toyota Previas in National Bangers, particularly in view of the strength and ride height, the following has been agreed:
From 1st May 2014 the Toyota Previa may only run with a radiator, no water tanks.
From 1st September the Toyota Previa may no longer be used in National Bangers.
The ORCi will monitor the use of other People Carriers, particularly the mid-engined ones, and drivers should check with the staging Promoter if they are in any doubt as to whether the vehicle they wish to use will be permitted.

Fabricated Drive Shafts

The rule remains unchanged in this (fabricated drive shafts are not permitted) but is being reviewed within the ORCi at present.
