Crash For Cancer Care

The first ever Crash For Cancer Care event for National Bangers, helped to raise over £500 for St Margaret's Hospice in Taunton.

Over £300 was collected on the day, and that was further supplemented by £230 from Autospeed, which equated to £10 for each driver who competed in the meeting.

One of the day's surprise entrants was 402 Charlie Callard.  Early in the week, the Bad Manners driver had been forced to decline an invitation to race.  However, he then pulled out all the stops to get a car built for the day, and make his second Smeatharpe appearance, having previously attended One Sunny Day at the track.  Callard explained his late change of plans, by saying, "When I realised that the meeting had such a strong link to cancer care, I just had to do something about racing in it, as my nan died of cancer.  So, my efforts to raise, were inspired by my memories of my nan."
