Smeatharpe Stadium - Sunday 16th May 2010

With large parts of the surrounding area hit by poor weather, it was no surprise that the rain descended on Smeatharpe by mid-afternoon, which left racegoers to get another all-too-familiar soaking, whilst drivers battled with the tricky conditions.

BriSCA F2

Mechanical problems for a small number of drivers in practice led to a couple of them having to sit out the meeting proper, in which 886 Chris Bradbury was very dominant.  Bradbury won heat one, and 783 James Rygor took the second heat.  There was a white top victor in the consolation, as 162 Richard Swales kept clear of those in pursuit.
Front runners in the final were 954 Jamie Beere, 276 Murray Jones and 467 Rob Batten.  However, when a race suspension was imposed for the stricken 14 Mike Priddle (who was subsequently collected by 116 Ashley Rundle after the yellow flags had appeared), the star men were able to close on the leaders, and not long into the restart, Bradbury had hit the front.  He went on to win, and retain the Dave Wilson Memorial Trophy, with Batten the runner-up and 676 Neil Hooper in third.
The Grand National saw Jones secure his maiden BriSCA F2 victory, as the former Saloon Stock Car star showed again that he is getting the hang of his new chosen formula.

Bangers

Once again, the entry of Bangers exceeded 60 cars, which led to plenty more action-packed racing.  Star graders took account of the heats, with 941 Hannah Creed, 382 Danny Hunt and 282 Steve Hunt each triumphant.
In the consolation, 154 Barry Pike took the honours, whilst 458 Tony Bevan looked on course for the final.  At one stage, he had a huge lead, but 75 Paul Fisher kept up the chase, and when Bevan was delayed on the final lap, Fisher fell short of pipping him at the line by a slender margin.  143 Andrew Bond completed the top three.
113 Chris Jeanes took the Allcomers race, to conclude another lively session from the Bangers.

Ministox

A quartet of visiting star grade youngsters swelled the ranks of the Ministox.
156 Georgie Boult Jnr won both of the heats, but 991 Ryan Hoskin maintained his impressive early season form as he swept to victory in the feature final.
Boult and 903 Adam Neville completed the top three in the main race, whilst there were also top three finishes for 315 Tristan Claydon and 953 Sam Matthews.
